"Make every Day a Mandela Day"

HURESIC has since the pronouncement of Mandela Day by President Jacob Zuma - embarked on  initiatives to contribute 67 minutes and more of its time to make a meaningful contribution in providing a community service. In 2009 the organisation built netball and volley ball grounds for children of HURESIC in Dan village. In 2010 Madndela Day was devoted to assisting orphans in Mariveni who lived in child headed household with a muddy house without doors, no window pains, not cemented. HURESIC worked with community leaders to put window pains, door, cement and plustering the house. This was also coupled with giving of food to the children and requesting relevant stakeholders to assist with information towards applying for an RDP house for the children.

In 2011 the organisation went to the same village to assist the same children. That time an RDP house was completed and the children were staying in. Focus on Mandela Day was on intensive cleaning of the house, washing and ironing clothes , blunkets and windows as well as cooking food for the children.

In 2012 HURESIC launched "Donate Clothes Campaign" where people in Dan, Mariveni,Mokgoloboto, Mhlaba Cross/JB, and Xihoko villages were requested to donate clothes to be distributed on Mandela Day to disadvantaged people in such communities including OVCs in HURESIC centres.

On 18 July 2013, HURESIC will be distributing school uniform to 91 children in the five centres. There will also be planting of flowers and cleaning of HURESIC Drop In centre in Dan village. The distribution of uniform events have been organised and will happen parallel where the management of HURESIC will run through all centres to give such uniform. Uniform to be distributed is purchased with grant funding from MUTUAL AND FEDERAL COMMUNITY TRUST
